The Melbourne Design Awards is designed to celebrate those who produce innovative and superb designs across a wide range of categories such as furnishings, interiors, architecture, products, landscape design, photography, graphic design, fashion and digital design. Melbourne’s Design Awards was created in partnership with the Design Institute of Australia. New York, Paris, Beijing and Stockholm are soon to follow.
All entries are open globally, and each Awards event will celebrate by honoring the unique design culture and their identity to the city in which it is held. Not only will this involve the great cultural and design centers of the world, but new exciting, vibrant and emerging hubs of technology and design will be introduced. The Design Awards will also honor those who support the design industry such as the executive hotel industry, publications, educational institutions, retailers, manufacturers, and design events.
The Design Awards begin with Melbourne because Australia is one of the best style capitals of the world. The City Design Awards aim to promote and encourage participation and conversation in all aspects of design through online voting and creating interaction between traveling designers by giving information to a Melbourne hotel concierge services and to design institutions and studios.
All entries will first be vetted by a panel of experts from the host city and then online voting will open to both the design industry and the public. Finalists will be reviewed by the expert panel with winners announced at a gala Awards Night. The inaugural Melbourne Design Awards will begin on September 10, 2010. Entries will close on October 20, 2010 and the winners will be announced in Melbourne on December 2, 2010.
